Theories On Crop Circles
After the notable appearances in England in the late 1970s, several scientific and pseudo-scientific explanations were presented to explain the crop circle phenomenon. The most common view accepted nowadays is that crop circles are man-made phenomena; however, paranormal explanations including UFOs are still popular. The study of crop circles is called Cerealogy, in paranormal circles. The earliest recorded crop circle is called the Mowing-Devil in 1647, depicting a strange creature creating a circular design in a field of corn. Another worth noting historical report of crop circles was published in 1880. Amateur scientist Brandon Meland suggests that crop circles might have been caused by "some cyclonic wind action". Many people around the world are making crop circles. World War II veteran Doug Bower and his friend Dave Chorley, announced in 1991, that they have been using rope, planks, hats, and wire as their only tools in making crop circles since 1978 in England. Bower demonstrated on television how a circle of eight feet in diameter could easily be created using a four-foot-long plank attached with a rope. The two men created more complex patterns using a simple wire with a loop, hanging down from a cap, in which the loop is positioned over one eye that could be used to focus on a landmark to help create straight lines, when newspapers started claiming that the circles could easily be explained by natural phenomena. Two men, Arthur Shuttlewood and Bryce bond allegedly witnessed a large circular area of plants collapsed within twenty seconds caused by a strange unidentified flying craft which then creates a crop circle in Warminster, England in 1972.To date, thousands of complex circles were recorded across the world. The pinnacle of the crop circle formations is the The Treble Julia Set in Wiltshire, England in July 1996. Some hoax photographs of crop circles spread, using image manipulation. Some crop circle enthusiasts claim that some designs have a degree of complexity that humans would not be able to create since the formations display a tremendous high level of symmetry which makes it difficult for a team of humans to create using just simple hand tools.Critical observers of this phenomenon suggest that crop circles are sniggles created by humans which was supported by various documentations produced by some crop circle hoaxers. However, crop circle believers argue that there are other features of crop circles that undermine the hoax theory but remains in dispute.www.eCropCircles.com (c) 2011
