A detailed description of a huge craft that hovered over Stephenville, Texas, in January 2008 has been provided by a law enforcement officer and is reported on the Web site Earthfiles.com.The officer also stated that the craft was observed clearly by two fellow officers.

JANUARY SIGHTING
According to Howe's interview with the officer identified as "Greg," he and other local officers observed the craft near the Erath County courthouse in downtown Stephenville early in the evening on Jan. 8, 2008.
"Greg" is apparently the same officer referenced by journalist Angelia Joiner who identified him in previous reporting as "Officer X" because he captured the craft's speed with his radar gun.
Greg observed the craft from several streets away. Another officer was driving directly underneath it and a third officer observed it from above, from his home on a nearby ridge.
The object is described by the officer as being 600 feet in diameter in a generally rectangular shape. Two bright white lights were observed on each of the four edges. Smaller red lights were on the corners.
Towers were observed on the top and bottom and were estimated to be 30 feet to 40 feet tall. The towers also had intermittently strobing lights.
The object appeared a gray-green color with a surface texture that seemed to appear like "canvas."
The officer also told Howe that the object seemed to have a cloaking device and could become nearly invisible at times.
As the officer neared the hovering craft, it turned on its side 90 degrees in what appeared to be a vertical position and started moving away from him.
The officer told Howe, "Then the craft starts pulling away. I reach up and grab my radar, swivel it up into the sky, turned it on and I got a hit. It showed 27 mph and accelerating. It got to about 33 mph and I lost my lock, which meant it was moving so far away I can't get a good lock on it anymore. At this point, it accelerated very fast."

Again, on Nov. 18, 2008, over the downtown area of Stephenville, an unidentified object or craft was observed by citizens.
Greg told Howe that between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Stephenville police received approximately five phone calls about the UFO.
"I was called by an hysterical couple that the craft was following. It tracked along beside them at 70 mph and then pulled in front of their pickup nose down into the road way, just 75 feet off the ground. The female said the bottom of the craft looked silver metallic," the officer told Howe.
"They were so awe-struck and thought it was going to land and they stopped right in the road way and just looked at it. The couple said as it nosed down, it flipped around to the other side of the road."
"The craft then put a spotlight of some kind, a bright light, on the vehicle traveling in front of the couple, which was a couple hundred yards away. That vehicle did not stop. That car continued down the road. So, the couple did not know if that car knew it was being illuminated or whoever was driving just wanted to get out of there!"
The couple told the officer that another motorist, who identified himself as a pilot, pulled into a convenience store where they had stopped and asked them if they had seen an unusual object, to which they responded in the affirmative.
The couple continued to spot the UFO flying back and forth over a nearby area.
This object seemed to be different from the one described in the January case.
According to the officer, "The couple said it looked something like a blimp. They compared their Nov. 18 sighting to a Tylenol caplet with the top and bottom shaved off a little."
Greg told Howe that some local peace officers have speculated about the UFOs.
"We've all wondered why it's occurring around here. A lot of the officers think it's some kind of military craft," he said.
"The officer who was in his back yard at home at the time on Jan. 8, 2008, he is retired U.S. Air Force and he was adamant it is not USAF."

Ms Hartigan said the main UFO then shot off above Governor Macquarie Drive at Chipping Norton, with the smaller UFOs zipping away in the opposite direction.
"I don't know how to explain it - I'm still totally bewildered," she said.
To the sceptic, Ms Hartigan's photo might show a speck of dust on the lens or something small floating in the air close to the camera.

Argentine Nazi Dark Migration
I rather suspect that it was not in Hitler's make up to do other than any war lord would do, but to shoot himself at the bitter end. Yet such an escape may well have been planned and followed by the escape team itself at war's end when it was obvious that none of the hierarchy would be joining them. It would certainly provide a false trail. They also had the escape loot.
The fact that a few did surrender in Argentine waters certainly conforms that some made the effort. The missing ones may well have been scuttled or even sunk or as likely simply did not exist at that point in the war. Once unloaded, there was nothing left to do.
That fact alone gives credence to the tale itself, and it is a fact that a surprising number of right resumes made it to that part of the world after the war. They are all gone now.

A Ufo Encounter Explained No Not Socorro
Googling Robert Taylor's 1979 UFO event will bring up our blog accounts and others.
But here's the gist of the story from "Wikipedia":
On November 9, 1979, approximately between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Taylor, who was at the time working for the Livingston Development Corporation, parked his pickup truck at the side of a road just off the M8 motorway with the intention of examining the progress of some saplings in the forest. Being unable to access the forest by truck, Taylor and his dog made their way into the forest on foot along one of the forest paths that lead up the side of Dechmont Law.
Upon entering a clearing approximately 500 metres away from his truck, Taylor saw what he described as a large, circular object, spheroid in shape and approximately twenty feet (six metres) in diameter hovering above the forest floor. The object had a narrow rim running along its circumference with stems topped with propellers and the surface of the object seemed to be constructed from a dark metallic material which appeared transparent in places. Taylor later described the surface of the object having rough texture similar to that of sandpaper and suggested that by having transparent areas on its surface, the object was attempting to camouflage itself with its surroundings.
Taylor began to approach the object and upon doing so two smaller spheres three feet in diameter, which looked to be made from the same material, appeared to drop from underneath the larger sphere and began to roll towards him. Taylor described the smaller spheres as having appendages, making them similar to sea mines in appearance. As the small objects moved towards him, Taylor described them as making a "plopping" noise as the appendages made contact with the ground. The small spheres maneuvered around Taylor and by using their appendages, attached themselves to each side of his trousers, just underneath the pockets. Taylor said at this point, he heard a hissing noise coming from the small objects and he began to choke due to a strong acrid smell which he believes was being secreted by them. He described this smell as "burning automobile brake linings" which was also described as an "acrid smell" which caused him to cough. By now, Taylor was aware he was being dragged by the smaller spheres along the ground towards the larger object. He eventually fell forwards onto his face and lost consciousness.
Taylor later regained consciousness and upon doing so discovered the object had disappeared. Taylor then discovered he had trouble attempting to speak and could not get to his feet. He then crawled 100 metres along the ground and managed to stagger the rest of the distance back to where he had parked his truck. On reaching the truck he attempted to call for help on the truck's two way radio, but struggled due to his loss of voice. Taylor then attempted to get back home in the truck, but accidentally ditched it in soft earth while trying to drive in his condition. Due to his vehicle being stuck, Taylor walked the rest of the way back home. Other sources state the truck did not start and Taylor had to walk home from its parked location.
On August 13th, 2012 the EDINBURGH EVENING NEWS presented this explanation for the Taylor experience:
The mystery of what happened to Robert Taylor on the morning of November 9, 1979, is one of the longest standing in the history of ufology.
Now a Livingston resident has claimed he has the definitive explanation of what really happened during the incident - known by UFO hunters as the Dechmont Woods Encounter.
The case has seen theories ranging from a fit-inducing mirage of Venus to magic mushrooms put forward to explain the story of strange craft and robotic beings which "attacked" and knocked unconscious the 61-year-old Livingston Development Corporation worker on Dechmont Law in West Lothian.
Local detectives even joined the investigation after Mr Taylor's legs were found to be grazed and his trousers torn.
In a new book, however, John Alison, 54, a self-employed businessman, argues that Mr Taylor's alien assault encounter was actually the result of a mini-stroke or "Transient Ischaemic Attack."
Here's what "Wikipedia" has on such mini-strokes (Transient Ischaemic Attacks):
A transient ischemic attack (spelled ischaemic in British English) -- (abbreviated as TIA, often referred to as mini stroke) is a transient episode of neurologic dysfunction caused by ischemia (loss of blood flow) - either focal brain, spinal cord or retinal - without acute infarction (tissue death). TIAs share the same underlying etiology (cause) as strokes: a disruption of cerebral blood flow (CBF). TIAs and strokes cause the same symptoms, such as contralateral paralysis (opposite side of body from affected brain hemisphere) or sudden weakness or numbness. A TIA may cause sudden dimming or loss of vision:Amaurosis fugax ; aphasia, slurred speech and mental confusion. But unlike a stroke, the symptoms of a TIA can resolve within a few minutes or 24 hours. Brain injury may still occur in a TIA lasting only a few minutes. Having a TIA is a risk factor for eventually having a stroke or a silent stroke. A silent stroke or silent cerebral infarct (SCI) differs from a TIA in that there are no immediately observable symptoms. A SCI may still cause long lasting neurological dysfunction affecting such areas as mood, personality and cognition. A SCI often occurs before or after a TIA or major stroke.
Does a mini-stroke really provide a resolution to the bizarre account that Mr. Taylor related?
It's a good guess, and may be correct, as an explanation, but it doesn't really account for Mr. Taylor's ripped, soiled pants - ostensibly from the small spheres grabbing him and dragging him along the ground.
And Mr. Alison's reports this (in the newspaper piece):
"About two hundred yards away from where the encounter was claimed to have occurred, there's a dome-shaped fresh water reservoir tower built in the late 1950s that still serves as a fresh water reservoir to this day.
"This construction matches the description of the UFO given by Robert Taylor. It features a large grey dome with a flange sitting on top of a cylindrical base coloured green to match the surroundings. I believe this is what Taylor saw but that it was misinterpreted because of the stroke."
Does Mr. Taylor's description allow for a water tower as described?
No. But could a mental reconfiguration brought on by a mini-stroke allow for a misinterpretation of the water reservoir as described by Mr. Alison?
Perhaps. What a person experiences during transient ischemic attacks can allow for such a wildly misinterpretation as that which Mr. Alison sees in the Taylor account.
But, again, some of the finer details (the ripped trousers) don't resonate with the mini-stroke explanation but, other than that, what Mr. Alison intuits about the account makes neurological sense, and could be an explanation of this truly unique UFO event: no one has ever reported anything similar to what Mr. Taylor says he witnessed.
So, is this one UFO case that is "solved"? I think it may be...

Absms All Or Nothing
He was Dr. Wilhelm Van Der Roe and I was Dr. Heinrich Hertz. Operating out of our plush laboratories in Pepper Pike, we had invented such wonders as lightning bolt collectors, the electric banana, and a micro-sound probe that could detect the speeches of past presidents trapped in their easy chairs. To note that some listeners obviously believed us, says much about the potential quality of some of our case reporters. Well, he also talked me into going on TV to speak "as an expert" about a report of bigfoot in downtown Cleveland. With a 20-year-old sportcoat, a too-thin tie with a tight obsessively uptight knot, and a disheveled hair-combing, I was decidedly over-the-top and undoubtedly set cryptozoology in Cleveland back several ice ages. [this was by-the-way my only foray into such misbehavior as shortly thereafter I grew up and began taking things way too seriously]. The point here is that it was never very likely that the big fellow in the news story saw a biological bigfoot in downtown Cleveland, and I'd bet a fair sum that he saw nothing at all. The little map above shows many unlikely spots for roaming cryptoapes of the Krantzian kind to be walking about.
That sort of thinking, of course, drives one towards the "nonsense" theory. But I didn't want to go there too quickly, even though in my shallow studies I didn't have the quality of witness that I "liked" [such as I had at Loch Ness with Father Carruth and Alexander Campbell et al]. The tales of Sasquatch which were resonating with me were the tales of the Native Americans. Some of these seemed like old folklore [like the Windigo] to scare kids into not roaming off alone in the woods, but others had that spiritual or at least uncanny element to them that hints of something more significant. Sasquatch was in the Mythos of the Haida and Kwakiutl etc. just like the Wasgo had been, but with a difference. They had spoken of the Wasgo as belonging to the concrete world, but the Sasquatch [even though a land dweller] as part of the group of powerful animal-spirits linked to the ocean--sort of like another reality from which they and their power emanated. These were the real spirit-gods and, I believe that trickster gods like Raven [or coyote, further south] were denizens of that realm as well. So, we're on the edge of All-the-Way-Fool again.
I just sat that all aside. I was no expert, and obviously didn't know what I was talking about. I tried, poorly, to keep a little track--weird ideas would come up, and plenty of hoaxes and people going so far as to threaten and punch out others at meetings [and we thought we had it bad in UFOlogy!]--and then I began to notice Bigfoot creeping into UFOlogy. Well, NOT welcome, not welcome at all. Along came encounters reports, most of them having no UFO around but some did. I was impressed by the pretty blonde girl and her mother, driving along, when a hairy white-furred "ape" reached into their car, jostling her and banging into her eye with the resultant bruise in the picture. Since this was two-witness and report-to-cops, it was the type of report that I like. But Michigan? As time went by, some people were claiming that Michigan was becoming a Bigfoot garden spot. Hmmm. Maybe. But not Biology in the Krantzian mode. But IF not, and if the pretty girl and her mom were honest [how can you not trust a pretty girl and her mom?], then what in or out of the world were we dealing with?
According to my "guts', ABSMs and UFOs are not supposed to mix. I had been aware that an Indiana UFOlogist, Don Worley, had collected several such cases, but ignored it. Then, I found that another UFOlogist, Stan Gordon of Pennsylvania, had a whole Flap's worth of ABSMs on his hands. Gordon was, and is [due to his work at trying to find the answer as to what went on when the military retrieved a large object at Kecksburg, Pennsylvania in the 60s] well known. Still the cases felt "wrong" to me. The creatures were right out of Halloween or Transylvania - absolutely NOT Krantzian - and more like big hairy goblins than biology either here or "out there". But could this sort of case be honestly ignored? Actually, I don't know the answer to that. I know that the fact that footprints were found which violate normal mammalian anatomy [three-toes, a la running dinosaurs] doesn't sit well with me. But if the witnesses, some multiples, are good then what am I to say? A good friend once said that he was conclusively convinced that ABSM-type entities co-exist with UFO reports. A researcher in Australia once made a whole catalog of them.
Creepy is the word for these sorts of UFO encounters [if such they are] and frankly "creepy" is not the norm. "Creepy" has more typified matters of the paranormal "nature" entities than UFO CE3s. But UFO researchers field these things. One of our best, Bill Chalker, looked into a 1975 multiple-witness case in Tailem Bend, South Australia where the "Yowie" [Ozzy's ABSM] was striding down the road carrying a lantern. In 1973, two teenage girls in Beaver County PA reported an 7+ foot tall white-haired ABSM carrying a lighted sphere. John Timmerman got a report from a military man of a 9-footer with dark hair simply disappearing, leaving no traces in the snow. None of these particular cases had a direct connection to a UFO. Now I've got too big a pile of encounters to prefer the "Nonsense" hypothesis. But I have all sorts of things which don't fit the Krantzian biology either. Oh brother, it looks like All-the-Way-Fool. But what sort of fool? Am I in Magonia or Alpha Centauri? Despite the occasional UFO or UFO-like connection, the ETH for these things doesn't fit well unless they're "games" of some kind, in which case my civilization-type-two amoralists are scaring people, literally for the fun of it. If it's Magonian activity, then they're about their imitative mischief-making again. It would be nicer if these clowns would make this a little easier. Ufo Researcher Jacques Vallee
He was the assistant director of that organization, NICAP (see link), and from the moment I discovered its existence in Washington, D.C. I was sending him letters incessantly. To both his credit and patience, he generally answered each and every one, no matter that I was a very curious and annoying teenager whose constant inquiries would surely have been dismissed by a lesser individual. Early on, Richard's careful approach, outlined in his books and during his editorship of NICAP's "UFO Investigator", taught me the value of caution in endorsing or rejecting UFO cases.
Extensive biographical information about Hall can be found at Kevin Randle's blog site (see link), and Randle also includes a great life's summary from researcher Larry Bryant, so there's no need for me to rehash what's out there already (and it should be noted, too, that he involved himself with editorial duties for the International Fortean Organization's "INFO Journal" for a short time). From my perspective, however, I note that Richard was the first UFO researcher I ever contacted and I was better off for having the opportunity to tap his knowledge. As mentioned on previous blog occasions here, I actually met him in person during a 1965 trip to Washington, and on that warm summer day I also spent a few minutes with NICAP director Donald Keyhoe. Though the country was engulfed at that time in an abundance of UFO reports, causing chaos at the small NICAP office, Richard kindly took the time to gather some documents together for me, souvenirs of that brief visit.
When the impressive Northeast power blackout occurred on November 9, 1965 in conjunction with numerous reports of UFOs, Hall was available by phone and correspondence to guide me through the gathering of reports. When he discovered that the Pentagon's Air Force spokesman, Maj. Maston Jacks, sent me a letter referring to the 1964 Socorro, NM UFO as a "vehicle," he broke the story in "The UFO Investigator". The first time I ever had a chance to write for a national magazine in the seventies, it was Dick Hall and Jim and Coral Lorenzen who put in a good word to the editor on my behalf. If I harbor any regrets, one that comes to mind instantly is my inability to review the copy of his book, "Uninvited Guests" that he sent me several years ago, because the Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained (SITU) and its journal "Pursuit", which I wrote for regularly, crashed before I could submit a piece.
If we multiply the good things he did for me by the multitude of great things he did for others interested in UFOs over the years, it's clear that Richard Hall was the man, the very essence of what UFO researchers should be. Unlike some, he never expressed his message with shout-downs and ridicule. Instead, he relied upon truth, logic and effective communication skills. His was the cool head, adorned with a cohesive train of thought, evidenced no better than in the outstanding editorial precision he exerted upon "The UFO Evidence", a sober document given to every member of Congress in 1964.
Years had passed, many years, and the last time I had any contact with Richard was in 2007, when we exchanged a few e-mails regarding the death of Al Chop. He wanted to write an obituary for his own UFO journal and was soliciting whatever information might be available, though he did have a small file on Chop that he couldn't locate at that time.
Richard Hall's absence, I fear, will encourage the usual charlatans crouching in wait to fill the void left when he passed, taking rare integrity and insight with him. Goodbye Richard, we'll miss you and your profound contributions to UFO research. Aren't many like you left out there.
(ABOUT THE LETTERS SHOWN HERE: The June 11, 1965 letter refers to Daniel Cohen, then the very UFO-skeptical editor of Science Digest. UFO researcher Jacques Vallee is mentioned as well. The October 25, 1965 letter mentions a couple of people attached to the UFO research community, as well as the disappearance of a letter I loaned to NICAP (yes, they eventually found and returned it). The January 24, 1966 letter was written by Richard as a favor, intended to be seen by others, when I attempted to interest radio station program directors in presenting a weekly UFO show (which never happened, despite the letter's examples of success). The final letter, dated November 2, 1966, came about because a group of Central New Yorkers, more concerned with wild flying saucer contactee stories than UFO facts, tried and almost succeeded in organizing a local NICAP relationship -- until their cover was blown.)
