A MAN AND HIS TWO DOGS
This case file from 1983 was only recently made public by a MUFON State Director. He was kind enough to share it with me. It details a possible alien abduction that occurred in Cookstown, New Jersey, on an August night.
It also includes a very strange element of visual perception. The witness could see the unknown object standing in one place, but when he moved, it was not visible. Returning to the original place on the ground, the object was again visible.
The witness was walking his two dogs in a field across from his home. It may be important to note that he lived less than a mile from McGuire AFB. It was a very dark night with no visible stars. At about 9:00 PM, they had almost arrived back to his house when the biggest male dog began to growl.
The witness was always very aware of his surrounding because the dogs could get vicious, and he did not want them to attack and hurt someone. When the biggest male began to get upset, he could not find a reason for his behavior. He headed out into the field again looking for an answer.
As he got most of the way across the field, the other dog began to act up. Both now had their hair raised on their backs, and looking up into the sky ahead of them. This caused the man concern; they were nowhere near any trees, and there were no structures there.
MESMERIZED BY OBJECT
As he looked up searching the skies, he was mesmerized by the sight of a huge, triangle UFO suspended in the air above them. The object was simply there, it made not a sound. It was tilted upward, with the pointed end the highest in the sky.
He could make out a few, small green lights near the nose of the UFO. Very quickly he looked down to see if his dogs were OK. Looking back up, the UFO was gone! He took a step or two. The UFO was back. He then retraced his last couple of steps. The UFO was gone again.
Each time he repeated this process, the UFO would appear, then disappear. The triangle was of a dark color, and its exterior appeared to be made of overlapping metal tiles. It was suspended about 50 yards in the air, and 50 yards in front of him.
UFO PROJECTS POWER
His nerves on edge, he reached in his pocket for a cigarette. When he struck his lighter, his dogs let out a howl, and he felt "something" projected from the triangle UFO toward him. He felt an unbelievable feeling of fear and dread. He could sense something on the ground below the UFO.
The dogs were showing signs of strange behavior as if faced with something unknown to them. They wanted to leave the area, and pulled our witness toward home. As they moved away, he could still sense something terrible, as if he was being watched by someone or some thing.
A CASE OF MISSING TIME
When he finally reached the safety of his home, he was shocked to hear his girlfriend ask, "Where have you been for an hour and half?" He felt that he had been gone for about 20 minutes!
Since that time, he has thought often about that night in August. He still has nightmares of the frightening event. He is convinced that what he encountered was malevolent. He has kept the details of this sighting secret for many years, and has never reported it to the military or local authorities.
